Master the Art of Deduction

Among Us is a game of trust and deception. As a crewmate, your goal is to complete tasks and vote out impostors. But how do you tell who's lying? These 10 tips will sharpen your detective skills and help you spot impostors every time.

1. Watch for Fake Tasks

Impostors can't do real tasks. If you see someone standing at a task without the animation playing or finishing too quickly, they might be faking. Use the task list in the top-left to verify common tasks like Admin Swipe Card or Weapons Download.

2. Use Camera Footage

Security cameras in Security room show key areas. If you see a dead body and someone nearby on camera, that's a strong clue. Combine camera logs with player movements to track impostors.

3. Pay Attention to Vents

Only impostors can vent. If you see someone enter or exit a vent, call an emergency meeting immediately. Also, watch for players appearing suddenly from locations far from doors — they likely vented.

4. Observe Behavioral Patterns

Impostors often act differently: they might follow you, skip tasks, or loiter near vents. Conversely, crewmates usually have a clear route. If someone is always near you but not doing tasks, be suspicious.

5. Use the Door Logs (MIRA HQ)

In MIRA HQ, the door log shows who passed through each door. Use it to verify alibis. If someone claims they were in Cafeteria but the log shows they never passed the door, they're lying.

6. Call Emergency Meetings Strategically

Don't call meetings without evidence. Wait until you have a solid reason — like seeing a kill, a vent, or inconsistent task progress. Too many false alarms waste time and may get you voted out.

7. Stay in Groups

Impostors struggle to kill when multiple crewmates are together. Stick with at least one other player, ideally someone you trust. If a group member dies, the survivor is often the impostor.

8. Track Completed Tasks

The task bar fills only when real tasks are done. If the bar doesn't move despite many claimed tasks, someone is faking. Late-game, if the bar is low but everyone says they're done, impostors are likely.

9. Use Visual Tasks

Visual tasks like Weapons Upload (animation) or Shields (flashing) are visible to others. Ask players to show you doing visual tasks in MedBay. If they refuse or can't, they're suspicious.

10. Keep Calm and Debate

During meetings, present facts calmly. Accuse only when you have evidence. Listen to others' defenses and look for contradictions. A well-reasoned argument can sway the vote without needing absolute proof.

With practice, you'll become a master detective. Remember: every game is a puzzle. Use these tips to solve it and keep The Skeld safe!
